“An 87 Year Old College Student Named Rose The first day of school, our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn’t already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned round to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being. She said, “Hi, handsome. My name is Rose. I’m eighty-seven years old. Can I hug you?” I laughed and enthusiastically responded, “Of course you may!” and she gave me a giant squeeze. “Why are you in college at such a young, innocent

age?” I asked. She jokingly replied, “I’m here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids…” “No, seriously,” I asked. I was curious about what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age. “I always dreamed of having a college education, and now I’m getting one!” she told me. After class, we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months, we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this “time machine” as she shared her wisdom and experience with me.

Over the year, Rose became a campus icon, and she made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up, and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up. At the end of the semester, we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I’ll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three-by-five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed, she leaned into the microphone and said, “I’m sorry, I’m so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent, and this whiskey is killing me! I’ll never get my speech back in order so let me tell you what I know.” As we laughed, she cleared her throat and began,

“We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You’ve got to have a dream. When you lose your goals, you die. We have so many people walking around who are dead and don’t even know it! There is a vast difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don’t do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything, I will turn eighty-eight. Anybody can grow older. That doesn’t take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunities in change. Have no regrets. The elderly usually don’t have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do.

The only people who fear death are those with regrets.” She concluded her speech by courageously singing “The Rose.” She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year’s end, Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep. Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it’s never too late to be all you can be. When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family. They’ll enjoy it! These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE. REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL. We make a living by what we get. We make a Life by what we give.”

Sleaziest Politics Ever

When I saw the attached article this morning, I knew I had to say something. To be quiet at times like this would be un-American, not patriotic.

This is a good history lesson. The GOP all the way back to Nixon considers voters dumb and do not remember the dirty tricks of the past. The icing on the cake is ” THEY WANT US TO BELIEVE GOD SENT US TRUMP”

I have also attached files that have a history of what happened in Germany during Hitler’s time. There was silence. Then the world paid a high price for it. We live in a democracy. If our democracy will survive, it needs people who all work together for its well-being. This nation got divided down the middle, with one side hating the other for the simple reason they disagree with their ideas. It appears politics has become a power struggle. The religious right is supporting this. They feel God has sent Donald Trump to save the United States. I hope for their sake. They are not trading their souls for a few judicial appointments to keep their friends with power in place.

Germany 1939
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Nazi_Germany

Goebbels’ Ministry of Propaganda issued threats and applied intense pressure on the Churches to voice support for the war, and the Gestapo banned Church meetings for a few weeks. In the first few months of the war, the German Churches complied.[170] No denunciations of the invasion of Poland, or the Blitzkrieg were issued. On the contrary, Bishop Marahrens gave thanks to God that the Polish conflict was over, and “that He has granted our armies a quick victory.” The Ministry for Church Affairs suggested that Church bells across Germany ring for a week in celebration, and that pastors and priests “flocked to volunteer as chaplains” for the German forces.[171] The Catholic bishops asked their followers to support the war effort: “We appeal to the faithful to join in ardent prayer that God’s providence may lead this war to blessed success for Fatherland and people.”[172] Likewise, the Evangelicals proclaimed: “We unite in this hour with our people in intercession for our Fuhrer and Reich, for all the armed forces, and for all who do their duty for the fatherland.”[172]

HAS THIS WORLD TODAY FORGOT WHAT HAPPENED IN THAT WAR?

The trouble is that once you see it, you can’t un-see it. And once you’ve seen it, keeping quiet, saying nothing, becomes as political an act as speaking out. There’s no innocence. Either way, you’re accountable.

THE FAMILY-A-TRUE STORY

Dear thia-basilia,

Hello,

I was very happy to read about your son finding a way to purchase your rooftop. If you had jumped your head would have cracked open like a melon. All of your beautiful thoughts would have leaked out on the sidewalk instead of being shared with the world. You are hard to contact in Jordan. Take care, be well, keep on doing what you do best.

Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing

Wolf In Sheep’s Cloth
The United States is a democracy. It is freedom, that is why people from all over the world have moved here. They want to be free and rule themselves with laws they make by trusting and working together. Everyone should work together. Love thy neighbor as thyself.

Wolf in sheep’s clothing, the phrase originates in a sermon by Jesus recorded in the Christian New Testament: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves (Gospel of Matthew 7:15,

Our Nation has evolved to a point where there are many things wrong with it. We became a permissive Society from straying away from our faith in God. People become greedy and lived improper lifestyles. A person must first change. Changed people happen by loving and caring for each other and working together as God wishes.

A large group of people in the United States today declare themselves to be religious, righteous, and God-fearing. They believe in their hearts; God sent Donald Trump to be our president. He is a tough guy who will change the laws to move the country in the right direction. I’m sorry to say I have to disagree with that. The God I know, is loving. He works through brotherly love, caring for one another, and respecting one another.

Jesus the Good Shepherd: John 10 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.?” Jesus will not let a wolf threaten and scatter his sheep.”
Donald Trump has been president for four years, and he has changed laws and appointed judges to satisfy the religious right groups. He has also divided the nation right down the middle through fear and intimidation, slander and name-calling. He is a pathological liar who believes that people who think differently than him are the enemy.
I cannot believe God sent him to work that way to save this Nation from destruction, not using tools like that.

Everybody must get out and vote and vote their conscience. We all must start loving and respecting one another, even with different opinions. We have to work together side-by-side, making sure everyone upholds all laws.

Some people feel the Covid-19 Virus goes along with God sending Donald Trump. There is a message to change your ways in the virus. That might be although the history of viruses is just as old as humankind.
“The social history of viruses describes the influence of viruses and viral infections on human history. Epidemics caused by viruses began when human behavior changed during the Neolithic period, around 12,000 years ago, when humans developed more densely populated agricultural communities.”

Human nature is constantly changing. God’s Peace is constant. We need that rock to hold. Isaiah 26:4 “Trust in the Lord forever, For in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock.”
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6).

Top reviews from the United States

“Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2018, Verified PurchaseIn this book by Leland Olson, we read about a young man named Richard Savage. Savage is a farm boy from Iowa who eventually goes to college and through other life events in this book but always is pondering on the idea that he’s gay. One day, a man learns about these thoughts and starts to blackmail Savage over them. However, Savage refuses to pay him which ends up causing major problems in his life. He starts to be accused of murders, accidents, and other horrible things. Can he stop the blackmailer before his life is destroyed?

This is a very intriguing book and filled with action. It’s also not that long of a read which makes it ideal for those looking for a somewhat quick read. Olson’s writing style helps the story to flow well and includes great imagery and descriptions to help you better imagine certain situations and settings. Overall, a wonderful novel to try out if you’re looking for something unique and suspenseful.”

“Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2018, Verified PurchaseA brave tale of a young man who gets into a bad luck scenario because he likes going to gay bars. Since he has to hide what he is doing to preserve the social image, he becomes a victim of blackmail and ends up in the throes of some terrible crimes. There are excellent ideas and a fantastic plot in this book, but the delivery is poor more often than not. I had the impression that the author took one breath and ran through the book, forgetting to pause, think of the sentence and use proper punctuation – it’s like in all that excitement small and capital letters got confused, and quotes and dashes disappeared. This makes the book difficult to follow. It is in a dire need of editing, which would for sure raise the bar of its value. Unfortunately,

that is the main reason why I decided to give only three stars to an authentic story that is unlike any other I’ve read recently. One person found this helpful.”

“Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2018, Verified PurchaseThe Bay Area Bad Guys is a great plot I love the concept of the story. Richard leaves Iowa to work for a big name firm in the city. He has a love for going to gay bars and ends up in a web of blackmail and lies to maintain his image. The story can be hard to follow with improper sentences, punctuation and changing points of views but essentially the storyline itself was great. Sometimes the story gets pretty deep addressing major crimes such as child trafficking but I feel like things like that need to be addressed and it fit in with the story well. There was some mystery which kept me reading and wanting to know what happens next. General grammar and punctuation aside, I enjoyed this book. I would definitely read more from Leland Olson. He has a knack for creating an interesting storyline, and with a little editing it would be an amazing book!”

“Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2018, Verified PurchaseThis book was definitely unlike any other I have ever read. It is typically not my type of go-to genre, but I did find that I actually liked it more than I expected I would. Richard, the main character, is a country boy who is highly intelligent. He quickly gets himself tangled in with some bad things and bad people. The author, Leland Olson, told the story in such a way that kept me intrigued about what would happen next. The sense of mystery and suspense was thrilling and made me want to read the book from start to finish. It was, however, hard at times to read about some of the negative things in the book, such as child trafficking, because they seemed to be very heavy topics. Regardless, I was very intrigued by the book. My family had a hard time even getting me to eat dinner with them because at times, I did not want to put the book down!”

“Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2018, Verified PurchaseThe Bay Area Bad Guys by Leland Olson goes through the struggles of one man and how he overcomes them. He has to deal with being blackmailed for being gay and ends up in many different situations as he gets more and more entangled. Leland Olson caught my attention on page one and kept me quickly turning the pages to find out what would happen next. I found that the pace set in The Bay Area Bad Guys was easy to follow and I quite enjoyed the way the book played out. When I come across a good book, I strive to make sure that I pass on the joy of reading to anyone who is interested. This genre has piqued my interest and has reinvigorated my love for reading. If you are interested in this genre, I would definitely give this book a read. You will not regret it.”

“Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2018, Verified PurchaseIt is nice to read about a young man who has been able to overcome personal challenges, both with society and his family, in order to claim his true position. From the title, I would never have seen the coming out of a young gay man in here, but it was truly interesting .”

Ogunna Chukwudi4.0 out of 5 stars A nice plot, that could do with some good editing Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 11, 2018, Verified Purchase Leland Olson writes well, and so should be prodded to write more. In the Bay Area Bad Guys, Olson expands upon the story of an uncouth farm boy who gains the privilege to acquire employment in a prestigious firm in a big city. The story extends to the circumstances surrounding his life, and the underlying fear that he could be gay. Blackmail, a big city. The story extends to the circumstances surrounding his life, and the underlying fear that he could be gay. Blackmail, suspense, intrigue, description of simple living in the hustle and bustle of city life, Olson works toward bringing the plot to a satisfactory climax. The book would do with some good editing.

5 Tactics Gaslighters Use to Control, Confuse, and Abuse

The Whys and Wherefores of This World

Does God have a plan for each of us? He remains in control if we trust him to lead us. He leaves us wondering what the plan is, but that does not mean he will let us know what it is. It all depends on faith and trust. What I am doing here has been on my mind for many years.

I got my spine fractured 56 years ago, along with the usual nerve damage that affects my body’s different parts. I was 23 at the time; my first thoughts were that the easiest thing to do would be to give up. I know now the battle was worth fighting. Life can be hard to understand. There is no perfect life in this world.
I felt a need to share my life experience with the rest of this world, so I wrote the book How I Lived 55 Plus Years With a Spine Injury. That book tells about my life after the accident to the present time. https://www.amazon.com/Lived-Years-Spinal-Cord-Injury/dp/1980400830
After all these years, I have concluded I could never have made it without the grit and fortitude in my genes. The Finnish people call it Sisu. There’s no actual definition for Sisu, but it is a strength or power that people have.

If you combine Sisu with having faith in God, anything is possible. I firmly believe I received that strength to go forward, to press on from my Finnish and Norwegian ancestors. I’ve always respected and been in awe at the suffering, sacrifice, and hard work that tested and tempered their faith. It took courage to leave their homelands, but they wanted to build a country where people would have the power. They would create a government of laws where all are treated equally and call it a Democracy.

I recently decided to honor my ancestors with a book I have written titled Plights and Perils of Persevering Pioneers. It tells the story of some of my family’s lives on the ship and after arriving in America. They all lived in Michigan for a short time working in the copper mines. They saved money, and a few came directly to Dakota Territory seeking farmland while others worked in Northern Minnesota at the iron mines. They later came West to the Dakotas.
https://www.amazon.com/Plights-Perils-Persevering-Pioneers-Leland-ebook/dp/B0868WK4MW
Those ancestors would be shocked to see what has happened to this land since they settled it. They built it strong with hard work, faith, and brotherly love.

The United States is divided today by people who got filled with hate for their brothers and sisters. They want things done their way and refuse to cooperate with anyone having different religious or political ideas. Many get driven by greed, accumulate wealth and power, even while using religion as a tool. People want their kingdoms. Love Thy Neighbor has been forgotten by many.
It is a selfish thought, but that might be why the Lord kept me here, to write this book. They built this country on faith and laws. All are created equal.
The election is rapidly approaching. All voters, please use your right to vote, and keep this country free from hate and intolerance.
