In my youth wicks were carefully trimmed. Mantels got cleaned with deliberate care, bright light they would share. Sootie glass reflected poorly on a housekeeper, yet it never got noticed until Twilight, with the sound of breaking glass.

Dear Ralph,
I write this sad, short memo with heart felt, deep feelings of regret.
The executive committee recently met behind closed doors. I am proof that they delegate their authority exceptionally well. Your my relative, a well known fact. That is why they unanimously chose me to write you this letter. A vote got taken. I’m your oldest partner here at the firm. After much deliberation and carefully worded consideration, they decided to replace you. It was the decision to replace you with a vacancy.
Respectfully yours,
John
