The Faint Novel Goal
The meaning of faint: To lose consciousness for a short time because of a temporarily insufficient supply of oxygen to the brain.
I believe I have only felt faint one other time in my life and that was marching with a full pack during boot camp. It was a 20-mile forced march shortly after receiving a smallpox vaccination. The trail we were marching on starting to resemble a steep, downward spiraling, staircase and I ended up face down in the mud with my backpack on top of me.
I experienced a similar feeling a little over a week ago when I signed up for NANOWRIMO which stands for National Novel Writing Month which is November. I didn’t really feel faint until I started contemplating writing 50000 words in 30 days. The barely perceptible smell was from fear of failure which soon became overpowering, fainted again.
Another meaning of faint: (of a sight, smell, or sound) barely perceptible.
Please check back into my blog sometime around Christmas or next Fourth of July or sometime within the next decade and see how my novel is taking shape. Thank you very much for visiting My Mixed Blog.
- Take this dare from 8th grade Young Writers Program participant Hajar: “I dare you to start with a blank document and write about whatever comes to mind. If something out-of-nowhere comes up, try to incorporate that with the story you’re already writing.”
