Marriage Harmony =True Bliss

Can you imagine what this world would be like if married couples lived in true Harmony? A combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce chords and chord progressions having a pleasing effect? Wow, marriage counselors would all be in the lines of the unemployed!

If this harmony was to take place only on anniversaries it would still be ‘noteworthy’. There are 364 days between anniversaries that would leave plenty of time for couples to work on their harmony. Learning to work on give-and-take, togetherness, each one contributing 100%. Learn that making beautiful music together is full of equally shared benefits for all involved. It is far better than fighting like old cats and dogs.

Don’t Let Your Zip Slip

Don’t Let Your Zip Slip

When you are real young you have Zip to spare. You probably pass some of it in your poop. When you are about a year old everyone is trying to get you to walk. You want to please them so much, you start walking and falling on your butt. Your wobbly little legs are still building up zip. Once you get started, you walk continually. You soon do so great, you can outrun a posse of parents and grandparents. All of a sudden they put boundaries on where those zippy legs can go. Those first few years can be somewhat confusing.

Then around age two, you start to speak because everyone’s prompting you to say “mama and dada” so you start speaking. Soon your speaking like a full fledged auctioneer. You like it so good, you start speaking pretty much around the clock to impress everyone. They loved your zippy speech at first, now they tell you to zip your lip. More mixed messages.

You continue to bubble over with zip, all the way through preschool and grade school. When you start Middle School, that old zip goes to lunch a lot. When you start high school it is gone, zippy no more. You now want to sleep until 10 or 11 o’clock in the morning so much for that useful zip.

When you finish your education and start out into the Working World, zip has to return to a certain extent or you might have a very unhappy life. There are many jobs you can grow to like, even love, that is a very good way to get your zip back. Always try to be happy in your work, for peace of mind and at the least, faster days on the job.
The best way to maintain your zip is through a regular exercise program, this should be done throughout your whole life to keep your body Young, elastic and zippy. Get involved playing sports, any kind.

Zip is nearly absent in about 95 percent of the people after they reach the golden years, or the mid-seventies to the nineties. Suddenly zip took on a completely different meaning. You hardly recall zip, as your memory plays tricks on you. You might have total recall of zipping around the dance floor doing a circle polka but forgot your zip code.

When you try to get out of bed, first you want to see if the legs are going to move, if they do, that is a real good sign. You try to swing them over the side of the bed, use good old gravity to got them to the floor. Always use the weight of the legs to help get your body to a sitting upright position. You may have to have something or someone to pull yourself up, it’s always a very good idea to just sit there as the room spins around and the blood starts to circulate back to the rest your body.

There was a time when you had to go bad in the morning, you could just zip to the bathroom, now you take your time knowing in advance you will be roosting there for a good part of the morning. Zip has turned into a slow-motion lifestyle. Try to reclaim some of that old zip, it awaits those who work to get it back. We know it will not be anything like youthful zip, the Golden Years Zip must be sought on a daily basis. Miss a day, loose what you had!

Avid Determination
I have to believe I was born a tinker, in a way, this is been a blessing. For some reason, I quit High School my junior year and went into the U.S. Air Force. This was not a very wise move at the time, I was not thinking about furthering my education at that young age. I did finish High School in the Air Force attending night classes and also taking some extra classes in electronics and math through MIT. That was in the year 1959. I said I was blessed to be a tinker because my life has really been that of an avid do-it-yourselfer. My life has been avidly repairing or rebuilding anything and everything. An avid Jack of all trades, master of many, different things throughout my life. My wife spent over 40 years volunteering my services to anyone and everyone if something needed fixing, or was not working correctly.

I also have to believe avid is a way of life, a philosophy, strive to do everything which determination, with an aim at completion and success. Boy Meets Bear

You can spike or stake orchids to keep them from tipping,, you could do the same with many other garden plants to keep them upright and from being damaged from lying on the ground.

“The punji stick or punji stake is a type of booby-trapped stake. It is simply a spike made out of wood or bamboo, generally placed upright in the ground.”

The Boy and The Bear

I’m going to write about a stake that you use to stake out a milk cow, so she has fresh grass to eat, to maintain the milk supply for you and your family. In the days of the American Frontier up until fences were used to keep cows from roaming away, it was usually the job of the older children to watch or stake out the milk cow or milk cows if they had more than one.

A lot of times they packed a lunch and stayed with the cows all day if they were staked out a long distance from the barn because the grass was better. There were many times when water also had to be carried to the cow. If the cow was staked close to the house, it would be milked where it was at. Someone on a stool, bucket between the legs, milking a cow was a common sight at one time.

An 11-year-old lad was once asked by his father, “Take the old milk cow down near the creek where she can have water, that you don’t have to carry, the grass is real good in several places there.” They had to go through the woods to get to the creek. The boy’s father told him, “take the .30- 30 Winchester rifle along just in case a bear might show up.” His dad told him, “The Bears are still up in the High Country so there shouldn’t be any problem if one shows up shoot a couple shots into the air to scare it away.’ The boy obediently took off with his cow following on a rope that was already tied to a stake over one shoulder. He had his lunch over the shoulder he was carrying the rifle on.

In mid-afternoon, the boy half dozing, thought he heard some noise coming through the woods. He thought it might be his sister bringing some cookies or cake. When he looked up there was a big ferocious looking bear coming right toward him and the cow. There was no time to shoot into the air, the bear was almost on top of him.

At age 11, he did not panic or hesitate, he shot the bear right between the eyes as it was almost on top of him. The big old bear rolled over dead, but he shot it through the heart to be sure. The boy shaking, quickly headed for home, leading the cow at a very brisk pace. As he walked up to the house his dad came out and asked, “Why he was home so early.” “I just killed a big bear, “looks like we’re going to have some bear meat to eat.” The young lad grew up real quick.

New Age TV Humor

Chuckle-less Television

Chuckle and the modern day television comedy show cannot be used correctly in the same statement. They simply do not go together.

I was recently trapped in front of the television set in a hospital room. The remote control was out of my reach, the nurse call light was under the bed again and I was unarmed. If I would have had a gun available. I may have shot a hole through the center of that big, extra sharp, flat, digital display screen.

That high-quality digital screen was unusually clear and It just kept on and on, it seemed to be doing its best to antagonize me. It takes quite a bit to ruffle my old feathers, or send electric shock waves through my central nervous system.

I have no idea where these writers could have been conjured up from. You would not think this comedy or so called, humor would have originated in Hollywood. It may have been recycled Vaudeville material, or an elementary school in Siberia was turned into a television Production Studio.

These new-age comedy shows seem to be in great demand, according to whoever does the ratings on television viewing. I watched a few of these programs and to my amazement, my utter amazement, I could not conjure up a chuckle or chortle not even a tiny giggle or teehee.

Chuckle also means to laugh quietly to one’s self, the closest I came, was almost a smile, more like a grimace or slight wince, as I got madder by the minute.

Cranky Crotchety Cantankerous

Cranky Crotchety Cantankerous

I wouldn’t call my wife cranky, she is more grossly cross-tempered, touchy and irritable most of the time. I learned many years ago not to ask whether or not she woke up on the wrong side of the bed. That makes for a very bad start, to a long day of caring and sharing with fractured terms of endearment.

Most people have some mood swings, in everyday life. Someone once told me that I was very fortunate because my wife is even-tempered, she is mad all of the time. I didn’t find much comfort in that statement, even though it had a lot of truth to it.

I have spent the greater part of my life ruminating, mulling over the fact that opposites seem to always end up bonded together through marriage. I have contemplated the idea that it’s just electronic magnetism. Opposites poles attract each other. like poles will not become attached to each other, they repel each other.

I considered myself to be the positive pole because of my easygoing demeanor and laid-back attitude about life. My wife, on the other hand, would be the negative pole as she seems to find the negative, immediately, if not sooner in most circumstances. This makes for a very highly charged, yet interesting life together. I just try to be humble and accept all of my happy positive ways and do my best to coexist. Oh, it is hard to be humble!

I have even toyed with the idea, opposites get together through some type of satanic force pushing them together for the sole enjoyment of Satan himself. He would find glee, to the highest degree, as he watches individual human beings. One trying to bring out the best in the other as one tries to bring out the worst, causing little storm clouds with flashing static all around. Sometimes they are so statically charged deadly light flashes from eyeball to eyeball.

I have also considered it the work of a loving God. After he got everything else created he created man and woman. Why wouldn’t he just as well create them as opposites? He could spend many happy days watching them, hoping for a loving miracle and coexistence between them. Most people are set in their own way though, keeping that personal character with him to their grave, unless a miracle takes place to change them.

Cranky also could be a pressure relief valve, similar to one on a steam engine to release built up pressure. Cranky lifestyles always cause the thought and emotion pressure to rise, the mouth emits colorful blasts of adjectives, like steam, like a whistle, releases some pressure and warns of its presence. This may well be nature’s way to keep people from blowing a head gasket.

Totally Tenacious

Totally Tenacious

An example of tenacious is a person who lives for another twenty years with a terminal disease.

I do not have a terminal disease but I did suffer a severe spinal cord injury 52 years ago. You might say I am a tenacious person because I have refused to give up or to follow all the rules in the book about living with severe spinal cord damage.

The doctors recommended I not lifting anything over 20 pounds yet I took a job unloading freight cars two years after my injury. Being hungry is a great work incentive. I took a day labor job where they find you work and keep a sizeable portion of your pay. I did manage to stay alive this way because I had money for food. That might be considered more staunch than tenacious.

I did many different jobs that required lifting but finally went to work driving truck. I drove every type of truck, gravel truck, propane gas, tanker truck, refrigerated trucks hauling meat from the Midwest to Arizona and California. That job also required much heavy lifting along with traveling many rough roads, sitting on seats that were poor quality in many trucks.

Neurology doctors look at my MRI’s and wonder how I can still walk. My spinal column and cord have been inflicted with just about every type of problem that can affect the spine. At the present time, the inside of my spinal cord is completely hollowed out from the tailbone to the base of the brain. That has destroyed many nerves controlling different parts of the body. I can still walk and make the most of each new day, I guess that makes me tenacious, persistent or determined.

I do believe being a truly tenacious person is all mental. You can ask the body to do just about anything and it will comply with your mental commands. The body is capable of doing them, it is all connected to the right frame of mind to start with. If you are determined and unwavering, doggedly work for your goals, you can reach just about anything you decide on. You must first will yourself do it, or it will never happen.

Healing Maggot Patch

Maggots Heal

Healing of the human body is almost a magical process in all respects. Millions of people count on their faith for healing. Most continue to depend on doctors and modern medicine, The body comes prepared and well loaded for most healing that is needed. Many, ninety, year old people have used mostly home remedies. They may have a bottle of aspirin in the medicine cabinet that has dust on it.

If we can heal rapidly and successfully we should consider ourselves to be very fortunate. Little children start to learn about the healing process at a very early age. They come to their mothers to find a colorful band-aid for the cut fingers or skinned knees, then observe the healing process. Some people have a problem healing due to the type of injury or possibly something in the genes of their bodies.

I had an ulcerated sore on my back at one time, it took about seven months to be completely healed and closed up. Thankfully without maggot assistance, at least I could not have seen them on my back. Pressure sores and ulcerated skin are a very common occurrence with senior citizens, the spinal cord injured and other paralyzed people who have to spend most of their time in a wheelchair or bed. Not being able to move the body and reposition yourself to prevent these awful sores can become a very critical, life-threatening health problem.

Healing of wounds is a very difficult problem with these people, that made me think of maggot therapy.

therapy is a type of biotherapy involving the introduction of living, disinfected maggots (fly larvae) into the non-healing skin and soft tissue wounds of a human or animal for the purpose of cleaning out the necrotic (dead) tissue within a wound debridement and disinfection.”
“Written records have documented that maggots have been used since antiquity as a wound treatment. There are reports of the use of maggots for wound healing by Maya Native Americans and Aboriginal tribes in Australia.
