Stop The Drivel
My mind is real vivid today, I read the news again. Some things wake up the old gray matter, set the brain to thinking, so to speak, running on it’s own even. I am 76 years old and my mind does get a little foggy, maybe fuzzy. At times it may not be real clear, on sunny days.
I have heard people say before, “did you ever stop to think”? I said to myself, “well I guess I have stopped to think.” I can also walk and chew gum at the same time. I ‘think,’ even while I’m walking at times, dangerous as that might sound. As of late, well, ever since the Presidential Inauguration. I’ve been paying extra attention to the news. Mostly lies, these days, it is said by one, but I try to sort it out.
I try to keep up-to-date on what is happening in our nation’s capital, at the White House and the Congress. We have many faithful old senators and representatives in Washington who seem to think it is business as usual. I don’t believe there is anything usual going on there anymore. Has it been moved and nobody told us folks out here on the plains?
As I previously said, “I stopped to think,” mainly about the austerity programs that are going to be put in place, some in the near future, some within the year, others during this administrations first term. They have not gotten to talking about second term plans yet. It isn’t a permanent position, is it? They plan to dismantle everything a Democrat had anything to do with, simply take the nation back about 70 years.
The GOP fought Social Security while it was being planned by the Roosevelt administration. Many would do away with it now but they are going to just change it a little. “Privatize it!” It appears like they are going to try trickle-down economics again too.
How The GOP Social Security/Medicare Doomsday Machine works. Medicaid and food stamps. WASHINGTON—”The Senate Republican budget slated for release next week is expected to generate savings by turning more responsibility for Medicaid and food-stamp programs over to states, GOP lawmakers and aides said Thursday.” Yeah RIGHT, the states don’t have any money, NONE setting around, only new taxes from “YOU.”
Obama care replacement: “The replacement would be paid for by limiting tax breaks on generous health plans people get at work. ” SAY WHAT??? Who?
“House Republican repeal bill would dismantle the Obamacare subsidies and scrap its Medicaid expansion, according to a copy of the proposal obtained by POLITICO”
A draft politico
It sounds like the experts in Washington are ready to try “Trickle-Down” economics again, as they did during the Ronald Reagan presidency. Give huge tax breaks to the rich and it will trickle-down to those at the bottom. They just don’t get it, when poor folks spend, money turns over, the economy grows. Rich folks are not going to put those huge tax breaks back into the economy.
Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa described trickle-down economics perfectly, when he said, “You give the old horse all the oats he wants, after it passes through the horse, it trickles back, down to the ground. The chickens then scratch around in it, that’s how they get their share.
Trickle-down economics, in layman’s terms, “scratching poop with the chickens”. We will have a huge increase in defense spending with tax breaks for the rich, spending cuts for Medicaid, food stamps, Medicare, clean air/water, global warming, pollution and everything else that can be cut. They could just do away with all federal regulations, that would be easy and fast.
I have to give Pres. Trump credit in one area. He’s talking about rebuilding the broken down infrastructure of this country. That will create a lot of jobs for a lot of young people who need a job. People earning an honest days wage will strengthen the nation a lot better than billionaires getting more big tax break, bucks. The old line GOP will probably call infrastructure jobs, make-work jobs and vote against them. If it sounds like FDR, or a Democratic idea, it must be bad.
If I get any more vivid here, I may become livid!
It doesn’t take much to make me livid these days!
